As an actress and a young businesswoman, I found myself where most South African actors find themselves: hopping from one artistic project to another without really knowing what comes next. I had been teaching drama since the age of 19 and had tried to establish drama classes in my own capacity many times, but I found it very challenging. Thankfully, the opportunity of a lifetime came my way. The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy combines my passion for drama and theatre with my qualifications and experience in business. It also aligns with my strong belief that every person should have the confidence to be boldly and authentically themselves.

I’ve always been what most people would call a “drama queen”, but I liked to correct them in saying I am “the queen of drama”! Not due to any misguided sense of importance, but I’ve always known I was going to be an actress and that drama would form big part of my life. I’ve known since the beginning of my consciousness that I will devote my energy, abilities and life to theatre and drama until I am considered a valuable member (or “queen”) of this beautiful art form.

I enrolled at Helen O’Grady Drama Academy in Mossel Bay as a teenager and then went on to study Theatre & Drama. I hold an Honours degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Stellenbosch University, as well as a B.Com degree in Financial Accounting from North West University, allowing me to combine creativity with sound business acumen. As an actress, director and producer, I have been involved in numerous local theatre productions, and I have been honoured as a Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards nominee.

As an artist and a businesswoman, I have a passion for children’s development and a lifelong love of theatre. I help children and adults discover their full potential – whether they already love drama or are simply looking to build confidence, communication skills and meaningful social connections. My goal is to equip every student with the skills and self-belief that they need to become the best version of themselves. I do this by using the beautiful art form and tool of drama. What sets me apart is my ability to recognise and nurture potential, often long before my students see it in themselves.
